SUCCESS STORY OF BORO PADDY

Boro Paddy is a paddy cultivated in the month of December and January where irrigation water facilities is available with the required temperature for their growth. The crop is harvested during the month of May. It is generally planted in the Border areas with Assam.pic1

With the introduction of Boro Paddy in the last three years under the Rice Development Scheme and NEC sponsored Scheme, the Department has been able to supply the Agril inputs to the beneficiaries in those area where the climatic condition is favourable. Boro paddy cultivation has been taken up after harvesting of Sali paddy.

Among the 665 Nos beneficiaries from Byrnihat, Khanapara, Amjong the following are some beneficiaries which have created the success story in the district:-
1. Shri Stalin Matlai – Amjong village
2. Shri Kalsing Amsih – Amjong village.

Shri Stalin Matlai from Amjong having 10 family members use to take up only Sali paddy pic2every year where the production of the crop could sustain his requirement of foodgrains for 8 months only whereas the remaining 4 month he has to purchase from the market. But only after taking up Boro paddy cultivation the production of food grain has increased to meet his requirement for the whole year.

Shri Kalsing Amsih a Sali cultivator who is having 9 family members of Amjong village after taking Boro Paddy cultivation he could produce sufficient quantity of food grain to meet the requirement of his family for the whole year.
